Boho Wedding Inspiration

Bohemian weddings are bursting at the seams with whimsical details, wild flowers and flowing dresses. It’s a super relaxed wedding theme, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish.

Wedding stationery

So let’s start with your wedding stationery: first impressions count when it comes to your wedding and your save-the-dates are the first peek of your big day that your guests will get, so make sure it’s special. Indicate your theme through your stationery – soft, watercolour designs will look beautiful for a bohemian theme, as will rustic-inspired invitations. It’s best to avoid anything that won’t fit in with your theme and this includes your stationery! Keep your stationery style the same right from the save-the-dates to the thank you cards at the end for a completely coordinated look.

Aisle Style

No matter what theme you are choosing for your wedding day, it’s important to choose a wedding dress that you feel comfortable in – and one that is also practical! If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, a huge princess gown might not be the best choice. An elegant, flowing gown will look beautiful with this theme. The easiest way to recreate that beautiful boho bridal look is through your accessories – we’re talking flower crowns and feathered hairbands teamed with soft, tousled waves, a loose, messy up-do or a pretty braided hairstyle.

Flowers

It’s time to talk about your wedding bouquet. A wild bouquet full of natural blooms and foliage is perfect for a boho wedding. Add textures with different greenery and rustic elements, such as feathers or hessian ribbon. If you’re tying the knot in Winter, opt for rich colours such as deep reds and purples for a romantic style. Planning a Summer soiree? Bright colours or pastel shades will look delightful. Always check with your florist about which flowers are in season when you’re planning your wedding, this way you can avoid early disappointment!

Bridal Party Attire

Mix and match your bridesmaids’ dresses for a truly relaxed style. If you wanted to keep the dress style the same, why not consider beautiful floral dresses? This will create a wonderfully whimsical look, and will look especially perfect if you’re tying the knot in the Summer! Delicate flower garlands will complete their look beautifully – these look especially pretty if you’re having flower girls.

Wedding Cake

A naked wedding cake is a fab option if you’re planning a beautiful bohemian affair. This is a much more relaxed style of wedding cake, rather than a classic iced wedding cake. Decorate with flowers that match your bouquet and décor to complete the look and voila! Your wedding cake will be one of the focal points of the reception. Why not display it on a rustic wooden table to create maximum impact?

Venue Décor

If you’re lucky enough to be saying ‘I do’ in the great outdoors, you will already have the perfect setting for a boho wedding. A tipi or rustic marquee is also an alternative idea for a relaxed, creative wedding, and you won’t need to do much in terms of décor. Hanging lanterns around your venue will create a wonderfully cosy atmosphere that will look particularly lovely when the evening draws in. Dream-catchers or colourful paper fan garlands dotted around your venue will not only look cute and quirky, they’ll give your guests a clear idea of your wedding theme.

A bohemian style wedding theme is incredibly simple to create, it’s all about being relaxed and injecting your personality as a couple into the décor, flowers and bridal style.
